OMG. Christine WON the pageant!

LOL! Ok, I hope the newly crowned Miss Astro Chinese International won't come across this blog and be like, "My name is Novel. Why are you still calling me Christine?"

The truth is, her name was Christine when we were in Sunway College Ipoh together. So, I actually know her, but of course we were not friends because we were in different courses then. All I know about her was that she's a marketing student and she's also a model. My boyfriend knows her boyfriend. That's about all. Haha. I guess my best friend Jessica might know her better.

This is Christine Novel, Lim Siew Theng. Winner of Miss Astro Chinese International 2006.

Whoa. Ipoh girls have won the pageant two years in a row. Hehe. Does it mean if I enter the competition next year I'll win too?? (Puke! With your looks arr? Next life la!)

The funny thing is, I happen to know last year's winner, Annabelle Kong, as well. She was my senior in secondary school and we were members of St. John Ambulance. She did us proud by becoming the 2nd runner up in Miss Chinese International Pageant 2006.

Annabelle Kong, Miss Astro Chinese International 2005.

Annabelle crowned 2nd runner up in Miss Chinese International in HK early this year.

All in all, Malaysia produces beauty pageant winners. Think Rachel Tan who won Miss International Chinese Pageant, Monica Pang, 1st runner up in Miss USA......

But there's something I have to comment on this year's Miss Astro. Apparently, they decided Top 5 based on SMS votes this year, which is totally unfair. Beauty pageants are not popularity contests. I mean, what does the public know about the definition of beauty? The only thing that probably matter to us is whether we like the face. Although I strongly disagree that beauty is something a person could define, at least the judges are professional. Besides, this SMS system provided chances of plagarism. Contestants from slightly better financial background might pay people to vote them. Seriously, I don't know what the organizers were thinking......

Well, not really. I know they were aiming one important goal for sure: Money. Money from some ham sup uncles and wu liao aunties who spent their time catching all events regarding the pageant and wasted money sending SMS votes.

Which is why I never believed in all these reality TV thingy. The soap dramas are more realistic.

Yea...I like Christine more than Novel. What i mean is actually Christine is more suitable to her. Anyway, who cares? About the event, i didn't watch the whole episod from Astro, but i know a bit la. I also guess she will won the pageant. Why? Donno. Intuition gua. But she okla. I like Annabelle. Don't know why also. Maybe she is real, what i'm trying to say is, she give me a good impression from the beginning. And i'd watch her performance at the finalist of internatioanl competiton, she didn't act, and i trust she is a straight person.
So, congratulation to Christine..Oops! Is Novel.
