My World Through A Sapphire Kaleidoscope

You MUST be kidding me...

WARN!NG: If you are my friend, PLEASE DO NOT READ THIS POST, unless you'd like to see me committing suicide.

I've just had a fight with my parents this evening.

You know, I REALLY wouldn't talk about this here if I'm still keeping my journal. But since I have this blog now and juicy stories do attract readers; and I'm so in need to release the frustration I have in me; I have no choice but to tell you the most embarrassing thing I've ever heard in my life.
“They ask you out so often just because they wanna tackle you and you are stupid enough to go out with them,” said Dad when I told Mom I'd like to go out with my friends to watch a movie tonight.
At that moment I was literary speechless! SPEECHLESS! It took me such a great effort to stop myself from replying,
“Oh don't be silly Dad. Your daughter never had admirers because she's often seen by the guys as too arrogant to mix with them. Besides, she doesn't even have friends, since she doesn't go out. So don't worry, she'll never have admirers.”
And I'm not even being sarcastic.

Oh. My. God. I can't believe he said that. Seriously, I'm starting to feel a bit reluctant to post this thing because it's SO gonna win a gold medal for the Most Embarrassing Conversation of the Century. And maybe another gold for the Most Mistaken Impression 2006.
Me? The guys wanna tackle ME? Puh-lease, don't ever repeat this statement to ANY of my guy friends. I don't wanna be the BIGGEST JOKE of the year. Who in a right mind would want to tackle a girl who's:
1. Not pretty.
2. Fat.
3. Not smart.
4. Not allowed to date.
5. Not allowed to go out with guy friends too frequently (too frequently here means more than once a fortnight).
6. Not allowed to go out with friends too frequently (too frequently here means more than once a week).
7. Not allowed to go out without a purpose (without purpose means not necessary. Not necessary means watching a movie that you have not been waiting a few years for it to show, or window shopping at the mall when you have nothing important to buy, or hanging out at the cybercafe when you have internet access at home), which actually means I'm not allowed to go out AT ALL, because other than all the activities I've listed above, there's NOTHING ELSE this extremely boring city of Ipoh could offer teenagers.
8. Not allowed to do something which is unnecessary (means reading a book which is not a textbook for one whole day in the privacy of my room, or going online to do something which is unrelated to my studies, or chatting on the phone when there's no emergency)?
9. Basically a freak.

No, wait. There is such mad guy. My boyfriend.
So let me rephrase the question. Who in the world could sacrifice so much in order to date me?

This is why I never had a second thought about whether my bf truly loves me. I mean, he deals with everything I stated above. He went through all the obstacles just to be with me. He doesn't care if I'm not allowed to see him every day. He doesn't care if I'm going to UK next year. He's not dumping me for another girl.
Well......maybe he does care, sometimes. Once in a while when he wanted to see me more often but I can't make it, he'd act a wee bit moody. But all in all, he's a great bf and I'm very grateful of him for being patient with me.

The thing is, not only is the idea that there are guys trying to tackle me completely laughable, the assumption that all the things I do online and all the novels I read are unnecessary is also inaccurate.

Please, do you think creating a website that has 400 registered users to this date and continue attracting thousands of visitors per day is something everyone can do without sufficient skills? I learned how to market my site. I learned how to manage the people in my site. And if I'm given a tiny amount of money to invest on it, cash will be rolling in from my site without me doing anything. Besides, this knowledge is not unimportant, seeing as I'm planning to take up cyber law in the future. Are you still telling me that I'm learning nothing by spending time online?
Do you think I'd ever be able to read, write, type and translate Korean language now if I hadn't spent time studying it? Are you telling me being able to speak in one language more than everybody else is not an advantage?
Do you think I'd be able to write essays and stories and novels in English if I hadn't read all the novels that I ran out of space to keep? Let me tell you, if it's not because of a novel I read just before my SPM I would've NEVER got the 1A in my GCE O-Level English. If it's not because of the novels I wouldn't have been able to get through my General Paper in A-Levels; and I bet I wouldn't have sufficient English to read law now. Seriously, English is not something you learn out of a textbook. Besides, the novels I read now are mostly those related to law. Are you telling me fictions are useless?
And lastly, do you think I'd be able to speak English if I never watched the “unnecessary” English movies I've watched so far? Although my English is not very fluent, it's still passable thanks to the movies. Where else do you think I learned my English from? I'm Chinese-educated since primary school; we don't speak English at home; I speak Cantonese with my friends. How else could I learn to speak English?
I'm not saying I should spend all day doing all the things above and spend lesser time on my textbooks. I'm just saying you can't say all the things I spend time on serve no purpose, because they do, to a certain extent.

Anyway, I'm positive that I won't tell my bf what happened today. My dad telling me I'm mixing the wrong group of people is enough of a frustration already(by the way, just for your information Dad, my bf got a Merit Award in his first semester for being the 2nd best student in his class. Your daughter would consider herself lucky if she doesn't end up last place in her class and flunking all subjects next sem, so she is not mixing the wrong people. Other people's son is). I don't need another person telling me my dad is wrong and follow up by a bunch of criticism.
My parents criticize my friends; my friends criticize my parents......
Why do they have to do this to me? Why can’t they just criticize each other face to face? But nope, they HAVE TO pressure me and blame me for everything. IS THIS MY FAULT?! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE TO GO CURL UP AT ONE DARK CORNER AND DIE!!!

Gosh, this post is awfully long. And I'm sure I've just made more people hate me. Wonderful. Just perfect.

I hate my pathetic life.
